About PBIS

PBIS is a school-wide initiative that supports proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and encouraging appropriate student behavior.

Tier 1 supports target all students.  Students learn consistent rules, routines, and expectations to prevent problem behavior from occurring.  In turn this promotes and enhances wellness by increasing pro-social behaviors, emotional well-being  and skill development.  Tier 1 supports are expected to be successful for 80-90% of all students.  Click here for more information on Tier 1.

Tier 2 supports target 10-20% of students who benefit from small group support.  At this level a small group of students whom demonstrate problematic behavior are provided additional intervention.  The strategies used at this level are more individualized to meet the student's needs and help prevent at-risk students. Click here for more information on Tier 2.

Tier 3 supports target individual students demonstrating the most need.  Interventions are designed to focus on chronic patterns of problem behavior.  These behaviors may be dangerous, highly disruptive, and impede the student's learning. Click here for more information on Tier 3.

A collaborative team approach is used to develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions.  It is a goal to include staff, students, families, and community members to take part in supporting positive behaviors.
